Wrinkles are creases, folds or ridges in the skin. Most commonly, wrinkles begin to appear as we get older. They tend to occur as a result of facial expressions, sun damage, smoking, and dehydration as well as a number of other factors.
Wrinkles are an inevitable part of the aging process. As we age, our skin gets thinner, drier and less elastic. Our skin’s ability to protect itself from damage decreases as we age as well. Thus, eventually, wrinkles, creases and lines form on our skin. In addition to the factors mentioned above, a person’s genetic makeup may also influence the extent of our wrinkles as well as when and where wrinkles start appearing.
